Advice for cord blood unit selection and transplantation
Selecting the best cord blood unit (CBU) for your patient isn’t the same as selecting an unrelated adult donor. Different considerations go into your decision. You may have questions about what makes one CBU a better choice than another. That’s why we offer a Cord Blood Consultation service.
When you request the service, we connect you with an expert cord blood clinician who is practicing in a transplant center and is experienced in CBU selection and transplantation. The clinician will call you to discuss your specific patient case and provide guidance based on the nature of advice requested.
If you requested Search Strategy Advice, the clinician can provide the final selection and rationale behind the cord blood unit selection. In addition, the clinician can discuss conditioning regimens and prophylactic antivirals and antifungals to support you in pre- and post-transplant care.
How to Request a Cord Blood Consultation
It only takes two steps to request a Cord Blood Consultation. First, make sure your patient’s case has been entered into MatchSource®. Then, you can request a consultation by emailing email@example.com with the following information:

- Your contact information (email, pager or phone)
- Best time to reach you

You receive Cord Blood Consultation as part of your participation in our Network. There is no extra cost to your center or your patients.
